Welcome!
Dear Families! (I will also be sending out hard copies of this letter)
I'm very excited to be teaching your child this year, and I'd like to give you a little information about what first grade will be like. First grade is a big year academically. Students learn to read (or improve their reading), write on topics in a more extensive way, and do much more complicated math. You will see such exciting growth in your child this year! And I look forward to helping all the children reach their potential. In the first days of school, I'll ask your children what they'd like to learn and accomplish in school this year. As a class, we'll then create classroom rules (a classroom contract) that will enable all class members to fulfill their school hopes and dreams. **Our class will line up on the blacktop on letter D** Parents may walk us to the classroom and then wave goodbye at the door. At dismissal, I will walk all students out to the front gate and help the bus riders find their buses. We will look for parents walking to pick them up and also help car riders out to the cage. PHEW!! The first few days and weeks of school can be a little hectic, especially at dismissal. Please fill out the transportation form and return it on the FIRST day of school so we know how your child is getting home. I'd love to get to know you and your child by hearing your thoughts. I've included a short survey for you to fill out. Please return it with your child as soon as you can. I look forward to seeing you on Back to School Night, Thursday, August 17, when I'll share more about the school year. Mrs. Huberts |
